DON'T FALL PREY to FACEBOOK ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION

Have you ever experienced or know of someone who has experienced something similar to these (If so you are not alone):

Scenerio #1:

Susie (recent divorcee):  "I just can't stand logging on to Facebook anymore.  Everytime I do I have to hear about how "wonderful" Pam's marriage is to Steve.  She posts pics all the time of them at dinner laughing and doing selfies.  It just depresses me."

Scenerio #2:

Mary:  "I am consistently checking to see how many likes I get for a recent post and I feel upset when some of my closest friends don't even like my post… but yet… I like 'EVERYTHING' they post.  It's just not right."

Scenerio #3:

Biff (unemployed):  "I see all these people going on vacations posting pics of them sipping MaiTai's by the pool and looking like they do that for a living.  I haven't been on vacation for years… I'll post a pic of my beer sitting on the bar to make it look like I am somewhere "cool". "

Scenerio #4:

Tammy:  "Everytime I refresh my feed… I see Kimberely posting one of her famous selfies again."
Penny (MOM of 4 all under 4):  "I look like a mess most days.. and she looks like she wakes up fresh faced and full of energy.  I need a facelift."

ALL PHOTOS COURTESY OF SOME  ECARDS AND YOUR ECARDS

Some Ecards and Your Ecard are uncovering a very big truth in a funny cynical way.  The reality is people are becoming more depressed and anxious due to their daily fix of being on facebook.

According to the Huffington Post… A series of articles have been written about the effects of facebook,  a handbook on how to withdrawal from Facebook,  and how facebook affects your work performance and interpersonal relationships.

I have had convos with friends and family who have decided that facebook was causing mild depression, sadness and self doubt.  Many decided to either get off facebook all together or limit their exposure and amount of friends who have access to their facebook profile.

You (Facebooker) are comparing your everyday lows to the highs of someone else's day.

For example, I have a friend who is unmarried, early 40's and is longing to have a child of her own.  Everytime she pulls her facebook feed up she sees pictures of friend's newborn babies propped up on their tiny little arms fast a sleep.  She sees the parents (her age) looking lovingly at their little bundle of joy.  She begins to wonder "WILL it EVER HAPPEN FOR ME."

We are all human and it is easy to compare our lives.  In addition, people have a tendency to focus on what we don't have versuses what we do have.

FACEBOOK is actually causing DEPRESSION.  Medical experts are treating and defining this condition as FACEBOOK DEPRESSION.

CURES TO FACEBOOK DEPRESSION

1.  QUIT FACEBOOK

2.  Keep a journal to help you focus on what's important and positive in your life.  They say actually writing down goals and putting them on paper makes them more tangible.  In addition, daily affirmations help anyone who is going through a bought of depression or anxiety.

3.  Don't put too much into Facebook.  LIMIT your time and the amount of feed or posts your read.
(I love facebook however, I limit my amount of feed and how many posts I read.)

4.  BLOCK posts from users that create feelings of  doubt or depression.
(I know there is a lot of debate on "TO BLOCK, UNFRIEND or TO TOLERATE".. why tolerate abuse if you don't have to … or why bang your head against a wall if you have a headache… just end the pain and once you have a handle on what is bothering you… then decide if it's worth the request of online social friendship.)

5.  Remember … facebook is a wonderful way to reach out to old friends.. how about actually using facebook as an opportunity to make connections and arrange opportunities to get together with old friends or new ones.

6.  DON'T post anything.. posting pics or status causes undue stress .. you are waiting or logging on to see who likes.. who didn't like… who needs all that pressure.  JUST don't do it.

7.  DON'T take facebook too seriously… life is not a popularity contest… manifest real relationships and enjoy what you have.

Remember …. depression is a real disease and needs to be treated.  Don't let it get out of control.

Take emotional health seriously!!!!

Ear Cuffs and Chains .. CATBIRD jewelry is AMAZING!!

Remember the trend that came upon us in the 80's where your small town high school girl headed to the local CLAIRE's to get multiple piercings in each ear.  I remember thinking how cool I was having 3 piercings in one and 2 in the other.  I stocked up on studs and small hoops.

(Photo Courtesy of Jewelry on Pinterest)

I was always in awe of those girls who decided to pierce the upper part of their ear or even the TRAGUS Part of the ear.  YEP… I researched the various parts of where you can pierce your ear and the technical terms.   Click here to learn about the 12 different types of piercings.

Well… since my mom…. drew the line of where and how many piercings I could possess… I got my 5  on the lobe and called it a day.  I recently saw on jewelry trends.. ear cuffs are soooo popular right now.

I am a very simple jewelry wearer and wanted something that was subtle and pretty.

Tracy Anderson is sporting an adorable ear cuff and chain.

Beautiful and so simple.

I ran across some fun pieces on Etsy that I had to share with you.

Lastly my favorite ear cuff and most recently favorite jewelry line

So excited to see all the options and more excited to rock an adorable ear cuff.

Ear ART and MisMatch Style - Fashion Moms Be Aware

I recently lost One of my MOST favorite earrings.  I could not bring myself to throw the other matching earring away.

Jennifer Fisher is a brillant jewelry designer and has mastered the art of jewelry making.  She has designed the coolest earrings and necklaces for famous celebrities and socialites.  I would kill to have the earrings she creates at a fraction of the cost.  I decided to seek out her stick chain earring design and had found a very simple pair similar to the Jennifer Fisher style at the LIMITED.  I have sought all over the internet for the same length, gold plated and similar chain style to the ones I had … but no such luck.

In order to rock my one stick chain earring … I decided pairing it with fun little nuggets and gold studs.

Purchase this little adorable set from Etsy.com

Images taken from Polyvore

Madewell Sells this delightful set at $32.00

This adorable set is available through an artist website for $18.00

This is a great little fun statement for any mom who wants to get away from your standard set of studs, or hoop earrings.

Here's my suggestions….

Wake up, put your yoga pants on and your best sweater… close your eyes and grab random pieces from your jewelry drawer and you may be surprised on how adorable you will look.

It makes getting adorned fun and unique!!!

DIY Dr. Suess Burlap Framed Wood Art

How to Make a Dr. Suess Burlap Framed Wood Art

What you will need:

Cameo Silhouette Cutting Machine (or Circuit)
Scissors
Vinyl Wall Adhesives on a Roll (Solid Black)
Silhouette Scraper Tool
Tacky Glue (In case you have trouble with the letters not sticking to the Burlap)
A sheet of Burlap Paper - You can find at any Hobby Lobby or Michaels (Scrapbook Section)
A Frame of your Choice

Download Dr. Soos Font Type or I used Marker Felt in Silhouette Font Section

Make sure to make the first letter of Each Sentence a slightly larger font.

Cut the Font out on the Vinyl Adhesive using your Cameo.
Carefully position the letters onto the burlap using the scraping tool.

Use the glass inside the frame as a guide to centering your words and letters.

Cut your excess edges and place into frame.

I found a 8x10 print with exact same font type and wording for $20.  The print cost me around $5.00 to make.  The frame can be purchased at Michaels.  It is an adorable addition to any nursery or can be used for any Dr. Suess themed party.

DIY Truffula Trees or Truffula Flowers (Dr. Suess' The Lorax)

Making Truffula Trees from Dr. Suess' THE LORAX ... is super easy and SUUUPPPER CUTE!!

First things first

Purchase List

1.  Spanish Moss
2. One Large Clay Flower Pot
3.  Floral Foam Topiary with Wooden Dowel and Base
4.  Floral Tape - Brown and White
5.  Clear Tacky Glue
6.  Scissors
7.  (2) Long Boa Strands

First wrap the wooden dowel with the White Floral Tape

The tape will stick to the dowel and there will be no need for Tacky Glue

Wrap the brown tape over the white tape leaving a gap between each wrap.

Glue along crease of the topiary foam sphere and begin wrapping your boa around the seam of the sphere.

Wrap the boa til the end finishes in the middle of the sphere.  Secure the end with tacky glue and begin wrapping the other side of the sphere.  You will have a full fuzzy top that resembles a Truffula Tree or Truffula Flower.

WEN is a WIN for POSTPartum Hair or That MID Thirties Hormone Mess of Hair

For those mommies who know what I am talking about when I say....

BOOBs need a lift
Everything Hangs a little lower these days
Bags Under the eyes - SLEEP deprivation!!!
HAIR HORMONAL HELL

So I went through about 2 years after my 3rd Pregnancy of Hormonal HAIR Hell!!!

HOW would I describe my hair pre-babies...

(Me aka The RHoTC) The goofball waving at the camera at Post Grad Commencement

Check out the sheen, the straight thick manageable locks that lay beautifully next to my melon.  Can you believe I used to complain about how hard it was to take care of... or that I just wanted a cute short bob like the lead singer of Wilson Phillips back in the 80's.  I pictured myself looking like BOZ from Some Kind of Wonderful .... short messy and multicolored.  (Insert Child of the 80's)  I laugh about it now... but .. WOW.. how I wish I could turn back time and slap myself in the face and say.....

"SNAP out of It"  (Classic Quote from Moonstruck)

Now... Mid Thirties... 3 Babies later... this was my hair prior to using WEN:

Weird random curl, fuzzy strands, breakage, dry brittle hair.  It is amazing how hormones just reck havoc on hair, body and skin.

I had seen all these late night infomercials about Chaz Dean and his Wen Products.  I saw before and after results and I was desperate to try something to restore my old lifeless hair.

(Photo Image Courtesy of Wen Hair Care online)

I began with the Sweet Almond Mint Intensive Cream Conditioning Shampoo and LOVED it!!

NOW.... It took me a weeks worth of using to get used to the NON-Lathering of this shampoo.  IT cleans despite clear evidence of a sudsy lather.  TRY it for a week and you will notice how WONDERFUL this product actually is.

Besides all the research I have found on soaps that lather and create intense bubbles are not good for the skin or the body.

I recently went to a Girl Night Out and was delighted when a friend walked up to me and said....."YOU are a WEN girl, aren't you???"  You can spot them in a room.

Healthy, full of life and a beautiful sheen!! That is how I can tell if someone is faithfully using WEN products by Chaz Dean.

Ridiculous duck face pic - Me on the left -
Most recent pic I have of my WEN investment and I hope it shows that its paying off.

NOW... I am never going to have what I had in my 20's but I can work with what I got!!!

Enjoy what you got today cause it could be gone tomorrow!!!

Meanwhile USE WEN ....its a WIN!!!
